Chinook / Spring Salmon
Chinook Salmon,
commonly known in BC as Spring Salmon, provide an excellent
challenge for any fisherman. This past year one of the larger salmon
caught in this area topped 60 pounds plus. The average size of Chinook's
are about 25
pounds.
Sockeye Salmon
Sockeye
salmon open in
the summer, these fighting red meat fish will provide you with plenty of
action and are excellent on the barbecue.
Coho /
Silver Salmon
Coho or silver
salmon,
as our American friends call them, provide a rocket ship ride when they
hit and run. This species is a true sportsman's trophy.
Pink Salmon
Pink
salmon are smaller than the others, but are great fly fishing. Pink salmon only
return every two years to spawn and can be identified by the large hump
on the back of the male.

Chum Salmon
Chum
salmon are called Dog's or Dog Salmon by many BC fishermen because of there large hooked like incisor
teeth. Chum return to southern BC waters in the fall of the year and are fished for
heavily by the commercial fishers as well as Native BC fisheries.
There are lots fish left over for the sport fisherman and are a great
trophy.
